$2.4 Million Raised For New Snowmaking Equipment
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) A cornerstone of the ski community in Reno will now be able to make snow with the help of new equipment. After raising millions of dollars, Sky Tavern is excited to unveil its new snowmaking machines.
In total, $2.4 million were raised by donors and other fundraising efforts to bring in some new state-of-the-art equipment.
Sky Tavern's General Manager Mike Oehlert, said the techno alpine snowmakers are a game changer.
"We're getting the new TR nines, which are their brand new high technology guns, you'll be able to run them from a cell phone."
The machines can even communicate with the SnowCat which measures the snow depth, to make more or less snow. Construction is set to begin early this summer, following installation, they are hoping to fire up these machines by the fall.
